Karlovy Vary - The Karlovy Vary Region has obtained a building permit for the reconstruction of the Imperial Baths. The document from the Karlovy Vary building authority will become legally valid this week. At the same time, no one has filed a complaint against the cancellation of the original tender for the reconstruction, so the region will soon be able to announce a new competition. The regional spokeswoman, Jana Pavlíková, informed about this in a press release today.
"We have never been closer to starting the complete repair. We have a building permit for the updated project documentation, and this is without any conditions that would hinder the continuation of preparations for the project," stated the governor of the Karlovy Vary Region, Jana Mračková Vildumetzová (ANO).
At the end of last year, the region canceled the procurement procedure for the reconstruction of the monument, which the previous leadership of the region had carried out in 2016 through an interest association that originally managed the Imperial Baths. The tender violated the Public Procurement Act. None of the companies that participated in the original procurement procedure filed any objections against the cancellation of the competition within the specified period. Therefore, nothing prevents the region from announcing a new competition for the execution of the reconstruction.
The investment plan for the revitalization of the Imperial Baths was also previously approved by the Ministry of Culture. As a result, the region will receive 250 million CZK for the restoration of the building. The new leadership of the city of Karlovy Vary has also declared financial support. The reconstruction itself, which is expected to cost around 600 million CZK, could therefore begin in the summer.
