The exhibition of graduates from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague will showcase the final works of students who successfully completed the program in 2018. This year's exhibition will take place in the attractive surroundings of three buildings of the Academy of Fine Arts, right in the places where students worked for six years: in the Main Building of the Academy of Fine Arts, in the School of Architecture building, and in the Modern Gallery in Prague's Stromovka. One graduate has chosen to exhibit outside the school. A total of 56 young artists will participate in the exhibition.

This year's graduates come from 17 different studios at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. The works of graduates from studios specializing in the restoration of visual artworks, both painting and polychromed sculpture, as well as the restoration of sculptural works and studio of architectural creation, correspond to the specialization of these schools. Graduates from painting, drawing, graphics, sculpture studios, studios of interdisciplinary creation, and new media studios sometimes transcend the expressive means commonly associated with their schools. At least 18 graduates present a painting as their degree work. Approximately 15 degree works take the form of spatial installations, video installations, or installations using new media. Seven degree works can be described as sculptural. The exhibition will also feature individual works in the fields of drawing, graphics, and performance.

The Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts commented on the exhibition: “A degree work can be discussed as a second talent examination. The first is understood as the entrance examination for study. After a designated period of study, however, we are interested in how the individual predispositions with which students were admitted have developed. It is an ongoing insight into the development of individual artists, where the community of like-minded individuals spreads into the cultural and social landscape.”

The Academy of Fine Arts' exhibition is accompanied by the Graduate Festival, a rich program of accompanying lectures, performances, guided tours, and meetings. Among its international guests are British artist Simon Starling, winner of the Turner Prize in 2005, Austrian transgender artist Ashley Hans Scheirl, British creator Mat Collishaw, whose exhibition "Standing Water" is currently ongoing at the Rudolfinum Gallery, architect and curator Ethel Baraona Pohl from dpr-barcelona, and architect and philosopher Gideon Boie from the Belgian group BAVO. The festival program, like the graduates' works, will be published on the website www.diplomantiavu2018.cz.

A bilingual publication in the graphic design of Ivana Dudková accompanies the exhibition and festival.
