Jihlava - On the site of the former infectious pavilions in the area of the old hospital in Jihlava, a specialized university library and additional spaces for the students of the Jihlava Polytechnic will be established in the coming years. The demolition of the existing low buildings along Fritzova Street is set to start as early as next year. CTK was informed about this today by Rector Ladislav Jirků.
The library will serve not only the university but also the needs of the future science and technology park, which will be located in close proximity in the building of the former urology department. According to Jirků, the establishment of the library is probably the most significant project that the polytechnic is preparing.
The construction costs are expected to reach approximately 650 million crowns, according to Jirků. The school will strive for success in one of the European grant programs. "According to the preliminary feasibility study, using the original buildings in the area of the former hospital would significantly increase the cost of the construction," Jirků said.
According to the rector, the actual construction work could begin as early as the end of 2009. The construction of the library should take a maximum of three years.
