Jandák will extend the life of the Český Krumlov revolving theater

ČESKÉ BUDĚJOVICE - Minister of Culture Vítězslav Jandák will today extend the life of the revolving auditorium in Český Krumlov by two years. This afternoon in České Budějovice, he will sign an addendum to the contract, according to which the city of Budějovice, as the owner of this structure, was originally supposed to dismantle the auditorium this year.
Thanks to the addendum, the auditorium can remain in its current form in the castle gardens of Český Krumlov until 2008, giving time to find a new design. Budějovice will have a project developed so that the auditorium can stay in the same location in a form that would not bother heritage protectors and would not disturb the surroundings.
The auditorium is located in the baroque garden, which, alongside the city and the castle, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its existence in this space is problematic for heritage protectors, and even the UNESCO committee has recommended its removal. On the contrary, representatives from the city halls of České Budějovice and Český Krumlov want to preserve the revolving auditorium where it has its tradition and unique atmosphere.
