Ústí nad Orlicí - The declaration of the City Theatre in Ústí nad Orlicí as a national cultural monument can help the city with financing its repairs. Thanks to a higher level of heritage protection, the city could more easily obtain subsidies for the building's renovations. CTK was told this by Mayor Petr Hájek (Association Oušťáci).

"I also do not think it would be any limitation or that we as a city should be afraid that we would have any repairs or investments hindered. We see it as positive and how to invest additional financial resources into Roškot's theatre and its immediate surroundings," said Hájek.

According to him, the theatre is in good technical condition and, apart from regular maintenance, does not require urgent investment. Two years ago, the city hall had the cinema located in the building digitized, and the seats were also replaced.

The theatre was built in 1936 from collections of citizens, entrepreneurs, local associations, and institutions according to the design of the prominent Czech architect Kamil Roškot. Its architecture belongs to significant functionalist buildings of the first half of the 20th century, which is why it was included in the list of cultural monuments of the Czech Republic in 1978. Since 1993, it has borne the name of its designer.
