Hradec Králové - The city of Hradec Králové recently signed a contract with the construction company Prima for the reconstruction of the Střezina Elementary Art School for 160 million crowns. "There are no obstacles to the construction. The construction site will be handed over next week,” said Jindřich Vedlich (TOP 09), the deputy mayor for investments, today to ČTK. The construction is currently the city's main investment project and has delayed about a year and a half compared to the original plans.
The start of the construction was also delayed by the repeated evaluation of the competition. The competition was originally won by the company Stako, with a price of 157.7 million crowns excluding VAT. The lowest price of 154.5 million crowns excluding VAT was offered by the Hradec-based construction company Prima, which was eliminated from the competition. However, Prima later succeeded with an objection against its elimination and, at the end of October, became the winner after a new evaluation of the competition.
The Střezina Art School has been waiting for its modern building for a quarter of a century. The main part of the Střezina project is the reconstruction of the former pavilion-style Jižní Elementary School in Slezské Předměstí. The Elementary Art School already uses most of the buildings.
Through the reconstruction, ZUŠ Střezina will gain multifunctional spaces, such as a rehearsal room for popular music students, a theater hall, and classrooms for the visual arts program. The school's management and the city hall plan for the area to become a natural cultural center for the city of one hundred thousand inhabitants.
