Prague - The luxurious residential building Prague Marina in the Prague district of Holešovice, which had structural problems since last April, has been repaired and received final approval. The repair comes with a five-year warranty. Petr Novotný from the law firm Vilímková, Dudák & Partners, representing the residents of the building, informed ČTK about this today. Last spring, about a quarter of the columns supporting the building became deformed. Several dozen people had to be evacuated twice. Workers secured the residential building with 150 luxury apartments immediately after the incident. The reconstruction was a joint effort by the developer, Prague Marina, and Metrostav, the company that built the building. "We consider it a success that we managed to secure the repair through an agreement, and that in such a short time. What is essential for the residents is primarily that the repair was carried out at the expense of the construction company and the developer, and that they were provided with an extended warranty," said Novotný. By Christmas, the builders reinforced the structural parts of the building; finishing work was still planned for January and February. Minor adjustments will take place after the weather warms up, including repairs to the lawns and the irrigation system. According to expert analyses, the incident was caused by several factors. There were inappropriate technical solutions, incorrect connections between the concrete and steel structures, and the natural shaping of the concrete after the completion of the building was not taken into account. A sudden temperature difference contributed to these main causes, although it alone would not have caused the incident, according to analyses reported by ČTK. The case is being investigated by the police.
