Ostrava - The chief architect of Ostrava, Jaroslav Sedlecký, is being pursued by the police. He is accused of forgery and alteration of a public document. The police suspect Sedlecký of unlawfully making changes to the city's urban plan in the area of the former Karolina coking plant, writes today’s Moravskoslezský deník and Mladá fronta Dnes. "It's true; I have received the accusation. It concerns a lawsuit from Czech and Polish architects from the Karolina association, who filed it last year through their lawyer against an unknown perpetrator in connection with the investor competition for the development of the area of the former Karolina coking plant. That lawsuit has now been transferred to me. I do not want and cannot comment on it in any way or express any opinion on the matter so as not to influence further proceedings," said Sedlecký. Police spokesperson Soňa Bradáčová will comment on the case today. Ostrava's mayor Aleš Zedník (ČSSD) confirmed that until the investigation is complete, Jaroslav Sedlecký will not perform his duties. "The secretary of the magistrate must proceed according to the law. To put it simply, this means that until a verdict of guilt or innocence is reached, Mr. Sedlecký will not perform the functions of head of the office of the chief architect. During this time, he will not perform duties either in state administration or in local government. The representative for the following period is architect Vltavský," stated Zedník. He also clarified that this case does not affect the progress of the current development competition for the Karolina site.
