Olomouc - The Olomouc region will provide the fire rescue service with 1.2 million crowns for the preparation of the construction of a new central fire station in Šumperk. Jiří Rozbořil (ČSSD), the governor, informed ČTK about this. The fire base building in Šumperk has been in a state of emergency for several years and is among the most neglected fire stations in Czechia.
"The money will be used to prepare the project for the construction of the central fire station in Šumperk,” said Rozbořil. According to the governor, the new fire station is to be built in Šumperk in the years 2014 to 2015, with costs estimated at 100 million crowns.
The regional office will also assist the municipality of Jindřichov in Šumperk with the construction of a landing site for the emergency medical service helicopters, for which the local government will provide 250,000 crowns, which is about half of the planned investment. The most expensive part will be the construction work and the lighting connection for the night landings of helicopters, according to Rozbořil. "It will be included in the system of landing sites, so that emergency medical care is as accessible as possible,” he noted.
The council also decided to distribute 280,000 crowns among the district organizations of the Association of Firefighters of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia in Prostějov, Přerov, Šumperk, and Jeseník. Each association will thus receive 70,000 crowns for their activities.
