FAM architects: Peace Square in Dobříš - western stage (realization 2012)

Dobříš (Příbramsko) - Dobříš in the Příbram area is planning the reconstruction of Peace Square in the city center. The town hall has reached out to architectural firms and received proposals from which it will select. In January, it will be discussed by the building commission, and then the public will be introduced to them. The costs are estimated at 60 million crowns. The city will embark on the project once the budget and grant conditions allow it, informed Denisa Havlíčková from the town hall to ČTK.

Dobříš wants to build on the current reconstruction of Prague Street, which will be completed next year at the end of August, as well as the upcoming renovation of Komenského Square. Mayor Pavel Svoboda (For Dobříš) stated that in the past, studies had been developed for the reconstruction of Peace Square, which he believes are now outdated.

The town hall considered announcing a public competition under the auspices of the Czech Chamber of Architects, but ultimately only contacted four architectural firms. The main reason the city chose the form of a so-called invited competition is the lower costs, in the tens of thousands of crowns. In a classic open competition organized under the auspices of the Chamber of Architects, it would involve millions, added the town hall.
