FAM architects: Peace Square in Dobříš - western stage (realization 2012)

Dobříš – Dobříš in the Příbram region is preparing a reconstruction of Peace Square in the city center. The town hall has two designs available, which it wants to discuss with the public. The final form of the square will arise from an architectural competition, informed CTK Denisa Havlíčková from the municipal office. The town hall has already estimated the costs at 60 million crowns.

There are bus stops at Peace Square, and according to Havlíčková, there is no other place for them in the city center, and the square will have to accommodate them in the future.

The town hall has approached several architects who were tasked with developing a study of the new appearance of the square. It has thus obtained two proposals. "The goal of the city leadership this year is to spark a public debate about these concepts and to develop a final brief for a new architectural competition, which should determine the definitive future appearance of Peace Square," added Havlíčková.

Dobříš wants to connect the modifications of Peace Square with the current reconstruction of Prague Street, which is one of the most important investment projects in the city in recent years. The first stage of repairs is nearing completion; as soon as the weather permits, workers will lay the final asphalt layer in the section from the traffic light intersection to the Dobříš castle and complete the connection to the parking areas and entrances to the surrounding streets.

The second stage of reconstruction will follow from the traffic light intersection to the intersection of Fričova and Františka Průša streets. The sidewalks on both sides of Prague Street will also be repaired along with the roadway.
