Brno - We invite you to visit selected passive houses across the Czech Republic from Saturday, November 10 to Sunday, November 12, 2007. Over ten houses will be accessible thanks to the international event Passive House Days. This is the only way you can experience it firsthand and consult on-site about everything that interests you regarding energy-efficient building. "A lot has been written and said about passive houses. To really understand what is being discussed here, one needs to visit a passive house and 'experience' it. That is why Passive House Days are so important; after your visit, you will be able to answer many questions yourself," says Dr. Wolfgang Feist, founder of the passive house concept and director of Passivhaus Institut. A direct experience of a passive house can help you dismantle various myths – that passive houses must be buried in the ground, that windows cannot be opened, that the operation of the house is technically demanding, or that ventilation units are too noisy and create drafts. The dynamic development of passive buildings in the Czech Republic is also evidenced by the very participation of houses in the history of Passive House Days. Only one passive building participated in the first year. Last year, six houses opened their doors to visitors. This year's offer of demonstrations of passive houses is truly wide, so do not hesitate and visit the nearest property. Those interested in Passive House Days can choose from the list of properties at www.pasivnidomy.cz. It is customary for visitors to contribute a symbolic amount to homeowners for their interruption and willingness to open their doors, which this year amounts to 20 CZK per adult person and property.
