Next weekend, from November 8 to 10, a record number of passive houses will open their doors to visitors across the Czech Republic - almost seventy.
During this year's Passive House Days, in addition to family houses with very low energy consumption, there will also be a passive kindergarten, a passive administrative building, and an apartment building. For interested parties, a free tour of selected houses in the Central Bohemia and South Moravian regions is also prepared.
Building or renovating a house is an expensive investment, and it pays to gather as much information as possible in advance. This is doubly true for passive and zero-energy houses, around which a number of myths and misconceptions persist among people.

“During Passive House Days, those interested in passive housing have the opportunity to speak directly with the owners or builders of these buildings, ask any questions they have, and learn how low-energy buildings function in practice. This firsthand information is the best defense against the nonsense that is circulated about passive houses,”
explains Iva Černá from the Passive House Center, which organizes Passive House Days in the Czech Republic.

The Passive House Center is also hosting two free excursions this year, which will take place on Saturday, November 9, to passive houses around Prague and Brno. “We planned the routes so that those interested in energy-efficient housing can see how passive houses are built and how people live in them. Therefore, they will visit one under-construction house and two already inhabited houses,” describes the content of the excursions Juraj Hazucha, a consultant at the Passive House Center. Due to the limited number of spots, it is necessary to register in advance on the website www.pasivnidomy.cz.

However, the accompanying program for Passive House Days is not only organized by the CPD. Companies engaged in passive houses have also prepared their own events. The architectural studio of Aleš Brotánek plans guided tours of its passive houses, including a unique project for a passive kindergarten in the village of Slivenec near Prague.
Further events will take place, for example, in the Czech Paradise in the village of Koberovy, where a group of several passive houses by Atrea stands, or in western and central Bohemia, where the company Kalksandstein will open its houses. They are also preparing a small exhibition in Plzeň on the operation of passive houses. In short, the second November weekend will be energetically passive in the Czech Republic in the truest sense of the word!
