Chrudim - Chrudim is preparing an extensive reconstruction of the mourning hall on Škroupova Street and its surroundings. The building is approximately 30 years old, is not in good condition, and does not meet current requirements. Architect Jan Třeštík, who is the author of the original project, is preparing documentation for the building permit and budget, said deputy mayor Jan Čechlovský (ODS) to reporters.
"The building has reached the end of its life, it’s from the mid-80s, technologically inadequate. There will be a reconstruction and even an extension for the expansion of technological facilities. It is necessary to renew the entrance areas to the mourning hall and the greenery and to expand the parking lot," stated Čechlovský.
The town hall will consider whether to participate in the modernization alongside the Technical Services. According to Čechlovský, it would be possible to divide the work into several phases. Construction could start next year.
The renovation includes partial reconstruction of the current spaces and a new extension of the building. Minor changes are planned in the waiting area for the public, while larger adjustments concern the spaces for the bereaved and areas designated for operational functions. Craftsmen should also repair the outdoor areas adjacent to the building. The entire design is conceived so that the hall, including the extension, forms a unified artistic and architectural whole.
Years ago, the costs of modernization were estimated at approximately 26 million crowns. The current price is likely to be around 20 million crowns, which should be reduced by the competition for the construction contractor.
