Olomouc - Nearly half a kilometer of paths at the central cemetery in Olomouc-Neředín have been repaired by workers using old cobblestones that were removed this spring from the reconstructed 1. máje street in the historical center of the city. The repairs of the paths were completed this week, said CTK director of the Cemeteries of the City of Olomouc Evžen Horáček.

According to Horáček, 880 square meters of granite paving were laid at the Neředín cemetery, which corresponds to 450 meters of newly paved paths. "The costs covered by the Cemeteries of the City of Olomouc amounted to 2.4 million crowns," he stated.

This week, work was completed on paving the area to the left of the historic cemetery gate towards the evangelical chapel, the main path from the gate around the Primavesi family tomb was paved, and the paving was extended on the path parallel to Míru Street. "The paths reinforced with granite cobblestones will enhance the experience for visitors to the cemetery for this year’s All Saints' Day," noted the mayor's deputy Ladislav Šnevajs (KDU-ČSL).

Last year, 180 meters of paths at the central cemetery were covered with granite cobblestones. In addition to the granite surface, the paths at this cemetery are also covered with bitumen and clay gravel. Of more than 16,000 burial sites, rental agreements are in place for 12,262 of them.
