The Designblok award for extraordinary achievement was awarded to the project of a configurable house

Prague - The absolute winner and holder of the Award for Extraordinary Achievement at this year's design and fashion exhibition Designblok is the start-up Cake Houses with a project for a house that is completely customizable to its owner. The Award for Sustainable Design, evaluated by a separate expert jury, went to Dutch designer Ineke Hans for the project of the refundable chair Rex. The organizers informed ČTK about the winners in eight categories announced this evening at the gala event at Prague Castle. This year, the 25th edition of Designblok took place in Prague.

Behind the brand Cake Houses, which received the main award from an international jury composed of five design professionals, are Pavel Špringl, Matyáš Švejdík, and Šimon Marek. "In their work, they decided to explore architecturally high-quality, easily constructible, and at the same time universal family housing of the 21st century," the organizers stated. According to them, the configurable house combines the advantages of a standard house and modern technologies.

The brand mmcité won the award for furniture, presenting the Morse collection crafted by the Belgian Studio Segers. The award for the best home accessory went to the studio LLEV for the Psychee vases and the new design of the Innatura glass. The title for the best designer installation was received by German designer Marie Radke. Among the companies, the Moser brand dominated with an installation featuring a levitating cloud on which glass vases designed by the company's creative director Jan Plecháč float. Moser's installation also received the Public Award, with more than 2,000 visitors voting for it at Designblok.

"Among the school presentations, Prague's UMPRUM won with the interactive project UMPRUM.Wav, which offered a path to understanding the structure of music and an unusual view of musical instruments," the organizers added. For the first time, the international jury decided not to award the best lighting collection. Today's times do not call for new products but ideas; mere aesthetic beauty is not enough, stated jury chair Ineke Hans.

Designblok began on Wednesday and ended today, except for two exhibitions at Prague Castle, which will last until the end of next week. The exhibition program includes 227 exhibiting authors and brands.
