The Caolinum Center in Nevřen is awaiting approval for use

Nevřen (Plzeň Region) - The Caolinum Center in Nevřen in the Plzeň Region, which will include an exhibition on the history of unique deep mining of kaolin in the village, is just before final approval. The multifunctional building, inspired by the tunnels in the Nevřen underground, will open to the public in August. Mayor Štěpánka Bejčková told ČTK today. The new landmark of the village will cost 15 million crowns, of which 12.7 million was successfully obtained from the regional operational program.
"We would like to have the building handed over by July 11. Then internal equipment and exhibition installation will follow, and we must complete the project by August 4," she stated. According to the mayor, no significant errors were found in the project, and only minor schedule changes were caused by problems with the clay substrate.
"The goal is to showcase local uniqueness," the mayor said, noting that Nevřen has always been known for the remnants of deep kaolin mining.
In parallel with the construction, work is also underway to gather materials, information, and data for the exhibition, which, according to Bejčková, will be handled in a highly multimedia manner, utilizing modern digital technologies. "And so that the interior of the building is not spatially limited for cultural and social events," she added. The exhibition will be captivating, aiming to engage every visitor, and will also include a range of elements for children. Nevřen currently expects to be open from Friday to Sunday, but operating hours may change.
For the construction of the center, the village with 250 residents and a budget of around three million crowns utilized space left by a burned-down pub. The building is intended to help the small village, located 14 kilometers north of Plzeň, gain visibility. In the future, the center should also become the starting and ending point for a nature trail to the sites of former kaolin mining and cycling routes to the surrounding area.
The center includes a fire station, which forms one building with the center outwardly, but it consists of two separate structures architecturally.
