Brno – The city will cooperate on the creation of the first part of the new district, which is to be located near the relocated Brno main station. Two developers, who already have a valid zoning decision for the construction, will sign a memorandum of cooperation with the city. The city council has already approved its draft, and the next step is approval by the representatives. The city hall informed about this in a press release.
"For the seamless continuation of steps and the development of the area, it is important that the newly constructed roads and networks connecting to the boulevard will be designed and built at the developers' expense so that they can be connected and transferred into the ownership of the city of Brno and into the management of its relevant bodies," stated the councilor for investments David Grund (ODS).
The city is to commit in the memorandum to assist the developers in negotiations with other institutions of state administration and self-government, for example, with the Directorate of Roads and Highways.
The signing of the memorandum is the first step, followed by a cooperation agreement that precisely formulates the rights and obligations of both parties.
The planned boulevard of the new district is intended to lead from Nové sady to the new main station, which is expected to be built at the site of the current lower station. Preparations for the construction of the new station are also ongoing; Brno councilors approved the preparation of an international architectural competition for its design this summer. The competition will cost 50 million crowns, with the city paying ten million, and the remaining 40 million to be covered by the Railway Administration.
