Brno - Brno will insulate the indoor swimming pool on Ponávka Street for 21 million crowns. The city will receive more than a two million grant from the Ministry of the Environment for this purpose. Thanks to the insulation, an annual saving of almost 300,000 crowns is expected. This was stated today by the mayor's deputy Petr Hladík (KDU-ČSL) to journalists.
The facility offers a twenty-five-meter pool. The aim of the project is to improve the energy efficiency of the building, save energy, and reduce the emission of pollutants, primarily carbon dioxide. The money will be used to insulate the exterior shell, as well as the roof, and to replace windows and doors.
Work is expected to start next year. The result will be a reduction in energy consumption mainly for heating. The annual savings are estimated to be almost 300,000 crowns. Over 2.2 million crowns will be covered by the grant, while nearly 19 million will be paid by the city from its budget.
Brno plans several investments in swimming pools. For example, a wellness zone will be created in the area of the Municipal Swimming Stadium in Lužánky for 15 million, and later there are plans to build a twenty-five-meter pool next to the fifty-meter pool for about 60 million.
For more than 200 million, the outdoor swimming pool at Riviera is being reconstructed, where there were significant water leaks. There will be stainless steel pools and various attractions. The city will also invest another two million in building a sauna in the Ponávka pool and in the reconstruction of the heating system for the sauna in the relaxation area on Rašínova Street.
