Brno – Brno will build toilets and 324 columbaria in the cemetery of the Žebětín district. The work is expected to cost 11.8 million crowns, stated Deputy Mayor Petr Hladík (KDU-ČSL) in a press release. According to him, the work could begin next year.
In addition to toilets and columbaria, there will also be a seating area. "We would like to expand the burial options at the Žebětín cemetery. At the same time, we want to increase comfort for visitors. Therefore, we commissioned an investment plan for the construction of columbaria and new toilets," said Hladík.
The investment itself will be divided into two parts. The first will be the construction of new toilets, one of which will be barrier-free. "Additionally, the builders will erect a wooden shelter with seating. The second part is the construction of columbaria, which will be of the same type as those at the central cemetery. Their total length will be approximately 65 meters with about 324 places," said Hladík.
The building with toilets will also include a cleaning room, storage space, and a locker room for cemetery staff. The project for the columbaria takes into account their potential future expansion. The work also includes the repair of sidewalks and paths and landscaping. "Overall, all the work should cost 11.8 million crowns. We expect that this year the project documentation will be prepared, and construction could start next year," Hladík added. The care of the cemetery is entrusted to the Administration of Cemeteries of the City of Brno, which will also operate the toilets. The Žebětín district should participate in their maintenance and cleaning.
