Brno – Brno has suspended preparations for the sale of the so-called White House on Žerotínovo Square, which houses a health center with a polyclinic. Róbert Čuma (Pirates), the councilor for property, told ČTK. Just last summer, the sale of the building, constructed between 1974 and 1976 according to designs by architects Miroslav Spurný and František Jakubec, was planned for auction.

A number of doctors have non-terminable lease contracts for the next five to seven years. "The sale of the White House was linked to a long-planned reconstruction of the Zahradníkova Polyclinic, where doctors and other healthcare services could move after its completion. However, this reconstruction has been postponed due to reduced city revenues next year," explained Čuma.

The city intended to sell the building for about 150 million crowns, but its reconstruction could cost an additional 200 million. The building is in very poor condition, having not undergone any significant renovations since its inception.

Discussions are also ongoing about the architectural value of the building, which, in addition to the health center, includes a health school, a café, and a screening room. The city has yet to decide whether, in the case of a sale, it will demand its preservation or allow the new owner to demolish the building.
