Brno – Brno continues in the preparation of a parking garage for approximately 300 million crowns on Žlutý kopec. The city council today approved a statement on the project documentation for the joint procedure for the location and construction permit. They hope to obtain the permit by the end of the year, said the city councilor for transportation, Petr Kratochvíl (ODS), to ČTK. He did not want to predict the start date of the construction.

"We are currently obtaining the necessary documents and want to submit it to the new building authority after July 1. We are not applying separately for a zoning decision and a building permit, but for a joint permit. We want to have it by the end of the year, then we will see; we cannot predict various appeals," Kratochvíl stated.

The building near the Masaryk Cancer Institute, where parking has been a long-standing issue, will be six stories high with a capacity of 222 spaces including the roof. "In the underground floor, which is partially embedded in the existing sloped terrain, there are the most spaces equipped with electric vehicle chargers, totaling 20. In the other floors, every fifth space will have a charger. The entrance will be from Tvrdého street, the exit to Tomešova," the councilor added.

The statement on the project documentation for the joint procedure for the location and construction permit, which the council discussed today, primarily concerns the adjustment of the appearance and material of the façade. It involves assessing the use of climbing plants to ensure the proposed building fits well into the developed area. Additionally, it is necessary to check the low-current wiring in Tvrdého street due to the planting of a row of trees in the grassy strip between the sidewalk and the road.

The city has been building a parking garage with a capacity of over 400 spaces since last spring on Šumavská street. According to Kratochvíl, it will be completed by the end of the summer.
