Brno - Several investors are interested in the unused part of the Brno-based company Zetor's premises. The engineering company wants to sell about 25 hectares in close proximity to its plant by the end of June; for now, the area is only being offered to the Brno city council. Brno is currently in two negotiations, with Zetor regarding the purchase of land and with potential investors, said Deputy Mayor Radomír Jonáš today. According to him, the city is also interested in the premises in Husovice, which Zetor plans to vacate this year.

The South Moravian Region is one of the regions with the most industrial zones. The largest of them, Černovická terasa, is already contractually filled. The Brno city council wants to offer other investors, among other things, unused premises, so-called brownfields, which total about 500 hectares in Brno. The city has already shown interest, for example, in the abandoned military barracks in the Slatina district or in part of the land of the Brno company Zbrojovka.
Zetor stopped using part of the land due to the company's restructuring. Jonáš did not specify how much the land, along with the buildings and the siding, would cost. "The price has been proposed, but it depends on what comes from the necessary surveys," he explained. According to him, only one investor could utilize the area. "The city is currently negotiating with three or four companies," he stated.
Due to the company's revitalization, Zetor is also planning to move from the premises in Husovice to its headquarters in the Líšeň district, but it does not yet have a clear vision for its future. "We have also discussed this area with the management of Zetor," said Jonáš. According to him, the Brno leadership will try to obtain funding from the European Union or the state for revitalization.
Zetor is one of the larger employers in Brno, providing jobs for about 1,100 people. Last year, the company reported a net profit of 125.5 million crowns, sold 5,751 tractors, and started deliveries to ten new markets. This year, it aims to break into the Asian market as well.
