Břeclav will build a parking garage for bicycles

Břeclav - A parking house for bicycles will be built near the main railway station in Břeclav. The costs are around 12.5 million crowns. The city will cover most of it from a subsidy. The tower will accommodate 118 bicycles, said Jiří Holobrádek, spokesman for the Břeclav municipality, to ČTK today. According to him, the daily charge will be five crowns. The goal is to increase safety and comfort for citizens.

The city has selected the contractor for the construction, which is the company Systematica from Pardubice. According to Holobrádek, the company has experience with similar constructions. "Towers are, for example, in Hradec and Přerov. The foundations should start being built in the coming days," Holobrádek stated.

People could expect the bike house to be completed as early as this year. "If everything goes smoothly, the work could be finished by the end of the year. If not, it will be at the beginning of next year," Holobrádek said.

The building will be located at the station, which also includes an integrated transport terminal. Interested parties will thus be able to arrive by bicycle, securely park it, and then take a train or bus to work, for example. After paying the fare, the person will place their bicycle into the door of the house, the automatic system will store the bicycle, and take care of everything. When the owner returns the ticket, the house will return their bicycle.
