Břeclav - Břeclav has approved a new zoning plan. It took about seven years to develop, said Deputy Mayor Jaroslav Válka (ČSSD) to ČTK. The old zoning plan was in place for almost 20 years. With the new plan, Břeclav is responding to the fact that old zoning plans are set to expire in 2020, though this deadline could be extended to 2022. The new plan anticipates the development of Břeclav and an increase in its population from 25,000 to 30,000 or more, and it also addresses the city's bypass, Válka stated.
The new zoning plan was approved by the councilors. It will take effect fifteen days after the public announcement is posted on the official bulletin board. "The plan includes, for example, the possibility to create new houses, but also to expand industrial zones. There is a bypass as well, which will take time to establish, but it is accounted for along with the radial connections of individual parts to this bypass," said Válka. The bypass has been a topic of discussion for a long time, but the preparations for its construction face complications because it is supposed to go through protected Natura 2000 areas. Therefore, it is not yet clear when construction will begin.
Cities and municipalities had to create new zoning plans because the old ones are set to expire in 2020. "With this, we have fulfilled our obligation. Work on the new plan has been ongoing since about 2010," Válka stated. According to him, the city collaborated on the zoning plan with the South Moravian Region, which has superior Principles of Regional Development of the South Moravian Region. In the past, these were annulled by the court, so the region prepared new ones and approved them last autumn.
However, some cities, such as Prague or Brno, are unlikely to complete a new zoning plan by 2020. According to the proposed amendment to the law, the deadline could be shifted to 2022, as approved by the legislators.
