Pardubice – The terminal for regional bus transport in Pardubice has received a building permit. The city plans to announce a public tender for the construction contractor by the end of the year. Construction work could begin in the spring of next year, the city council announced today in a press release.
Terminal B will be located next to the train station. The current bus station, which is a few hundred meters away, will cease operations at an unspecified time. The landowner intends to use the property differently.
The cost of constructing the terminal will be approximately 169 million crowns. Since 2017, the city has invested 17.5 million crowns into the project. About five million was spent on project documentation, and the municipality spent 11.5 million crowns to purchase land.
The terminal is expected to be completed in 2022. The city will finance the construction from multiple sources, with around 100 million crowns potentially received from European subsidies. "The proposed design of the terminal has the support of the Pardubice Region, which provides regional bus transport. The region has promised the city that it will also financially contribute to the construction of the terminal for regional bus transport," said Mayor Martin Charvát (ANO).
The new terminal will be located behind the former apartment building at Jan Perner Square, next to the train station and the city’s public transport terminal. In the future, Terminal B will be connected to the planned South Terminal. A footbridge over the railway corridor will connect them. The footbridge will be built by the Czech Railways Administration, which recently began modernizing the railway junction in Pardubice.
