Pardubice – The city of Pardubice could have an analysis in about a year that will propose the use of the former Masaryk Barracks. It will clarify whether the city should keep the land, for example, or sell it. The town hall has owned the site since 2014. Jan Nadrchal (ANO), the deputy mayor, said this to ČTK. The town hall is not addressing the use of the site for the first time.
"It will also involve public participation, which will express what they would like to see there. The analysis will suggest whether we should keep most of it, sell it, or only retain part of the land," Nadrchal said.
For example, it could be possible to build a school, a kindergarten, a nursing home, a healthcare center, generally public facilities, and part could be filled with apartment buildings. "But I don't want to preempt. We haven't selected a contractor for the analysis; we are still working on that," Nadrchal said. The final report on the use of the Masaryk Barracks could be ready by next September, he added.
The T. G. Masaryk Barracks have belonged to the city since 2014. In the past, it commissioned a study and considered offering the area to investors. A private entity also expressed interest in building a basic church school there in the past.
The empty complex has a temporary parking lot. The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has long been planning to build an office there, which is currently spread across several locations in the city. The construction has been postponed several times. The need for new facilities for civil servants has been discussed for ten years.
