Task — We wanted housing. Something like a small apartment building with amenities. Because we wouldn't find it enjoyable and because it is important to understand the basic connections and contexts, we chose a theme where those connections are not too many. We wanted to demonstrate the skill to create a living internal environment for a small group of people – in terms of layout, space, more or less resigning to the aesthetics of the exterior. The theme is therefore a short-term or medium-term mission in extreme conditions with a scientific focus for about 40 people.
Concept — The task was to create a space - a structure for a group of 40 scientists intended for extreme conditions. My goal was to create a scientific training center that prepares scientific teams for work in extreme conditions: examining their behavior and testing them in crisis situations. The structure offers basic equipment for life in isolation: individual spaces are logically arranged next to each other and are connected by ramps and ladders. It is only the interior of the structure with an elementary layout, stripped of all external connections. It forms one common continuous space. The entire complex is enclosed in a courtyard where the training center is located.
