Halfway between Milan and Venice lies the largest Italian lake, Lago di Garda, covering an area of 370 square kilometers. On its western edge, a residential complex (seven standalone villas and four townhouses) was completed at the end of July, featuring contributions from several renowned architects alongside David Chipperfield, including Richard Meier, Matteo Thun, and Marc Mark. Behind the luxurious villa ensemble 'Eden Gardone' in the Gardone Riviera area is young Tyrolean real estate investor René Benko, whose company Signa purchased the land eight years ago for ten million euros. On the eight-hectare plot, villa owners will have access to a private heliport, club, restaurant, and wellness center. The garden design has been created by Swiss landscape architect Enzo Enea. Chipperfield's villas are formally intended to resemble old orangery structures. Massive retaining walls made of quarry stone tier the steep western slope, while slender concrete columns with wooden slats assist in shading the living areas facing Lake Garda.
