The porcelain museum in Vienna's Augarten Park has been reopened in June. It is located in the brick castle, whose interior has been newly designed by architect Boris Podrecca. The museum was opened by Margit Fischer, the wife of the President of the Republic of Austria, in the presence of prominent personalities and guests.
The creator of the museum's new design is professor of architecture Boris Podrecca, who, thanks to the installation of elegant "partitions" and glass cubes, adds a unique atmosphere to the space and the porcelain exhibition. The former imperial summer palace in Vienna's Augarten Park, where the Vienna porcelain manufactory has been located since 1923, now shines with a new brilliance. The museum, shop, and café-restaurant have all been given a new look. An impressive firing kiln is also on display. The museum captures the history of porcelain and all artistic phases. The first porcelain manufactory was established in Vienna in 1718, making it the second oldest in Europe. At that time, Claudius Innocentius du Paquier received the imperial privilege. In 1744, the previously private manufactory passed into imperial ownership.
