Paris - Every Parisian souvenir shop offers a miniature version of the famous landmark of the French capital, the Eiffel Tower. However, only one lucky person can obtain a piece of its original staircase at the Monday auction. At the auction in the Hotel Drouot auction house, a piece of iron staircase will appear, which engineer Gustave Eiffel climbed to the top of the tower during the ceremonial opening in 1889. This staircase was removed in 1983 and elevators were installed in its place. The staircase was subsequently divided into 24 parts, which were gradually sold to museums and private collections around the world. The section of the staircase that will change owners on Monday is 4.5 meters long and once connected the second and third platforms of the Eiffel Tower. Auction expert Remi Ader estimates that the piece of the world-famous monument could sell for up to $44,000 (800,000 CZK).
