Rome - The Italian parliament today approved a law requiring museums and historical sites to maintain at least basic operations even during strikes or other union actions. According to the AFP agency, the aim of the law is to put an end to closures that have often caught tourists off guard in the past and had a negative impact worldwide.

For example, the Roman Colosseum and the ruins of ancient Pompeii, the two most visited sites in the country, were closed several times this year due to union actions.
The government therefore decided to include historical sites in the law, aptly named Colosseum, which ensures at least basic functioning of public services such as transportation, healthcare, or education.
