Around the Eiffel Tower, a protective glass wall will begin to rise

Paris - The area around the Eiffel Tower will soon turn into a construction site. At the beginning of October, workers will start building a 2.5-meter high bulletproof wall around the symbol of Paris, which is intended to protect visitors from potential terrorist attacks. The wall will be made of reinforced glass and will be transparent. Preparatory work will begin this Monday, reported the newspaper Le Parisien.

The project is expected to be completed in July next year and will cost around 20 million euros (approximately 521 million CZK). The landmark will remain open to tourists.

The wall construction is unpopular with local residents, and people on social media are referring to it as a "aquarium for tourists." However, the Paris City Hall argues that the wall will replace the existing metal grids and will provide a nicer view of the monument.
