A new design hotel has opened in the historic center of Polish Krakow since last night, created in collaboration between the Berlin studio J. Mayer H. Architekten and the Krakow architectural office Ovotz design Lab. Hotel Park Inn is located at the intersection of important transport routes into the city, next to the planned conference center, the Royal Castle on Wawel Hill, and the historic Jewish quarter. Guests can enjoy a magnificent view of the old city center from the hotel rooms. A characteristic feature of the new six-story hotel is its three-dimensional facade, which hides a regular arrangement of hotel room windows in black horizontal and vertical bands behind its shiny aluminum panel white shell. The striking contrast of black and white lines resembles a giant deformed barcode. Formally, the project can easily be associated with a number of other“modern ornaments” by Jürgen Mayer H.
