Jihlava - The construction company PSJ has completed the reconstruction of the Czech embassy in Brazil. The restoration of the modernist building from the 1960s in the capital Brasília cost 97.5 million CZK. Miroslav Fuks, a spokesman for the company, informed ČTK today. According to him, PSJ has already carried out renovations for 13 embassies for the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The reconstruction in Brazil began last January and was prolonged by four months compared to the original plan. According to PSJ, this was caused by a number of changes during construction. "Long sea transport of containers was not a relief, and last but not least, we had problems with local companies," added project manager Jaroslav Řičánek.
The Czech embassy utilizes a two-story house with a flat roof that previously served only for residential purposes. A smaller entrance building with a visa section and a reception has now been built at the access road. The main atrium building serves administrative and diplomatic purposes, but it also contains four apartments and two studios. The complex has added a tennis court, and the pool in the garden has been repaired.
