Frankfurt am Main - This year, the award for the best high-rise building in the world went to the residential skyscrapers Norra Tornen in the Swedish capital Stockholm. This was reported by the DPA agency. The two buildings, each over 100 meters tall, were designed by architect Reinier de Graaf from the Dutch firm OMA, and the jury particularly appreciated the innovative use of prefabricated concrete blocks that make up both residential towers.

Experts praise Norra Tornen for its aesthetic expression inspired by brutalist architecture and for its unconventional use of prefabricated cubic modules with large-format windows that create a relief structure for the facade. One of the towers, standing at 125 meters, contains 182 apartments ranging from studios to spacious penthouses. Residents also have access to a cinema, gym, sauna, and guest apartment. The second tower, with 138 apartments, is 15 meters shorter and was completed last year.

The prestigious award for the best high-rise International Highrise Award (IHA) has been awarded every two years since 2004, organized by the German Museum of Architecture (DAM). The winner also receives a monetary prize of 50,000 euros (about 1.4 million crowns). Two years ago, the award went to the Torre Reforma skyscraper in Mexico City, designed by Mexican architect Benjamín Romano.
