Prague - The exhibition, which opens today at the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery in Prague, presents the history, current state, and planned future of the Kyselka spa. It is titled "Starry Sky Over Kyselka" and was prepared by experts from the National Heritage Institute and the Karlovy Vary Museum. The owners of the nationally protected buildings in Kyselka have long neglected their care. The Senate has requested a halt to the devastation of the buildings, and this year the ombudsman also deemed the care for local heritage insufficient. Currently, a public benefit corporation is being established, involving the owners of buildings in Kyselka, Karlovy Vary Mineral Waters, RIS, the municipality of Kyselka, and the city of Karlovy Vary. The establishment of the corporation was initiated by the owner of the Chyše Castle, Vladimír Lažanský, and the great-grandson of the founder of Kyselka Spa, Rudolf Mattoni, will also be a member of the board. The public benefit corporation commits to restoring all the historical buildings of the former spa. The exhibition showcases the architectural and urbanist values of the Kyselka spa, focusing on its buildings and history. The panels are complemented by a projection that shows the current state of the buildings and potential future developments. The title of the exhibition refers to the fact that the authors of the spa buildings were renowned architects, such as Leopold Bauer, the Fellner & Helmer studio, and Bernhard Grueber. Kyselka Spa, with its architecture, has inspired smaller spas in the surrounding area, such as the spa at Klášterecká kyselka in Klášterec nad Ohří or in Korunní Kyselka. According to the authors of the exhibition, the uniqueness of the spa was also contributed to by the fact that Heinrich Mattoni organized regular study trips to world-famous spas across Europe, bringing along his collaborators and architects. The overall urban planning of the site holds greater value than that of individual buildings. According to experts, Kyselka Spa is a phenomenon that is valuable precisely in its integrity.
