On Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at 6:00 PM, an exhibition "Dear Architects…" will be launched at the Gallery of Architecture Brno, introduced by curator Karolína Plášková.

The exhibition “Dear Architects…” aims to stimulate a discussion on the role of the architect in contemporary society – how it is perceived by the architects themselves as well as by other professions dealing with social or environmental issues (geographers, sociologists, anthropologists, political scientists, art historians, philosophers, artists, economists, politicians, etc.).

The role of architects and urban planners is to articulate the demands of society and subject them to critical examination. They have the tools to influence the development and functioning of settlements and landscapes. However, with the increasing complexity of designing built environments, architects often limit themselves to merely fulfilling normative, formal, or economic requirements and resign from questioning them or addressing social issues related to urban planning. Many architects have forgotten the ethics of architectural practice and social responsibility.

The exhibition will include two accompanying moderated discussions, which will take place on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at 5:00 PM and on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at 6:00 PM at the Gallery of Architecture, Starobrněnská 18, Brno.

The exhibition will be open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and will last until June 27, 2017. Admission to the exhibition is voluntary.
