Brno - The Brno Gallery of Architecture will open an exhibition today showcasing the work of Le Corbusier, one of the most influential architects of the 20th century. It particularly emphasizes the Indian city of Chandigarh, which was built from scratch. Le Corbusier was directly involved in the city's design. The exhibition is complemented by seven original sketches from the architect's early period and documents recalling his visit to Czechoslovakia. "Le Corbusier, through his radical work and artistic sensitivity, significantly influenced the development of modern architecture and is regarded as the greatest architect of the 20th century, whose legacy remains alive and continues to inspire generations of architects and artists even today," said the director of the Gallery of Architecture, Gabriel Kurtis. Le Corbusier (1887 to 1965) was originally a Swiss architect, urban planner, theorist, and painter. Chandigarh was created as the capital of the Indian state of Punjab. It is divided into single-use sectors. Overall, it has the shape of a human silhouette. The head is represented by the Capitol complex, which includes government buildings, the National Assembly, and the Supreme Court. Visitors to the exhibition can view Chandigarh through the photographs of Milan Pitlach. The exhibition will last until February 20. It will be open daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
