On Wednesday, May 29, 2013, a festive announcement of the results of the second year of the City without Smog architectural competition took place in the premises of the Brno House of Art. The announcement, combined with an exhibition of the competition proposals, was attended by representatives of the media, universities, competitors, and the general public. The organizer of the competition, Českomoravský cement, a.s., awarded a total of eight prizes along with its partners.
The competition was organized in accordance with the competition rules of the Czech Chamber of Architects. The main prizes were decided by an independent expert jury composed of architects, who evaluated primarily the quality of architectural and urban solutions, feasibility of implementation, justification for the suitability of TX Active technology, creativity, inventiveness, and aesthetics. "Only the second year of the competition is telling. The number of 94 submitted competition designs more than confirms that the competition is attractive and remains a challenge. This high participation demonstrates both the authority of the competition and its jury." summarized at the beginning of the announcement the chairman of the jury, Ing. arch. Ludvík Grym.

1st place and a prize of 50,000 CZK was awarded for the competition design STERADIÁN by the author Viktorie Prokopová from the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design in Prague.

Winner of 1st place Viktorie Prokopová with the competition proposal Steradián

The competition design represents a new element in public lighting, which, unlike common outdoor lamps, does not contain a light source but serves as a reflective surface for projectors. By day, Steradián appears as a sculpture, at night it becomes a functional luminaire. Thanks to the bottom illumination with UV light, it can utilize TX Active technology even without sunlight. An interesting play of shadows is created on the pole by the variously positioned projections. The jury particularly appreciated the simple, well-developed concept with the possibility of real implementation, easy prefabrication, and variations in both the column and the projections. "We received the competition as a semester project. I wanted to design not just a sculpture but also a practical object that could be placed in any space. I chose public lighting precisely for the maximum utilization of the properties of TX Active material. I am very glad that I got to know this material through the competition, and winning was a great surprise for me." summarized her immediate impressions after the announcement of the results, the author of the winning design.

2nd place and a prize of 20,000 CZK was awarded for the competition design ANEMONE by the author Bc. Petr Strakoš from the Faculty of Architecture CTU.

Anemone represents a flexible sea anemone in the public space of the city. The basic element of the design is the arm of the anemone, which does not have a strictly defined size and appears in clusters. It can serve as an addition to urban greenery or furniture, a space for relaxation and games while simultaneously utilizing the properties of TX Active technology. The jury highlighted the simple and impressive form as the main positive of the design, which allows for use in various extents and scales.

3rd place and a prize of 10,000 CZK was awarded for the competition design BUSSTOBJECT by the authors Ing. arch. Ivo Jelínek and Markéta Jáňová.

It is a design of a multifunctional public transport stop created using modern 3D printing methods. The solution of the surface of the stop is also unique, defined by the construction geometry of cellular membranes called "gyroid," functioning on the principle of minimal surfaces and defined by a mathematical equation. The use of this concept maximizes the properties of TX Active technology, as air can flow through the gyroid from all directions, and due to its geometry, a sufficient amount of ultraviolet radiation necessary for the photocatalysis of pollutants from the air can reach the surface.

Jury of the competition: Ing. arch. Václav Kocián, Ing. arch. Petra Gescheidtová, Ing. arch. Markéta Veselá, Ing. arch. Ludvík Grym, Miroslav Příkopa, Ing. Jan Hrozek, Ing. arch. Pavel Jura (absent)

The jury awarded two special prizes for originality and light humor to the designs Falling cubes by František Novák and Pigeons by David Šmíd. The general director of the company, Ing. Jan Hrozek, presented a special prize for the design BikeBench by Mark Šimai, which depicts multifunctional urban furniture with a visual overlap. The prize from the expert portal TZB-info.cz was awarded to Marek Hubáček for the design Tree of Life. Another partner of the competition, the subsidiary company Českomoravský beton, a.s., awarded the design Time Fountain by author Jan Brejcha, which combines elements representing a healthy and clean environment, here represented by water, the symbol of life, and the material use of TX Active technology as a modern symbol of a clean environment.

Announcement of results of the competition at the House of Art in Brno

Part of the announcement included the conclusion of online voting taking place on the competition's website www.bezsmogu.cz. The public prize was thus awarded to students of the Faculty of Architecture VUT Jakub Frolík and Michael Kohout. Their design 5thAVE/aloe vera presents a street lighting system inspired as well as TX Active technology by nature, here the medicinal plant aloe vera.

From more than two thousand voters, these three winners of physical prizes were subsequently randomly drawn:
Martina Pankratzová – Apple iPad 4th generation
Lukáš Strba – Google Nexus 7 tablet
Bětka Chytková – Google Nexus 7 tablet
