Valašské Meziříčí - Valašské Meziříčí in the Vsetín region is preparing a transformation of the terraces under the Žerotín Castle. An integral part of the project is also the creation of an artwork that will refer to Czech-Slovak partnership, cooperation, and history, said city hall spokesman Jakub Mikuš today to ČTK. Authors can submit proposals for a new sculpture until February 14.

"The Castle Terraces project will not only enhance the entire area but also take into account the paths and trails created by people. A new staircase connected to the existing path, an observation terrace, and a new pathway behind the historical object Sýpky will be created here. The costs amounting to 23.5 million crowns will be covered 80 percent by a European grant," said Deputy Mayor Yvona Wojaczková (ANO).

The project also includes a new artistic installation. "Our aim is to obtain a valuable piece of art with a supra-regional impact that reflects current artistic trends while also taking into account Czech-Slovak partnership, cooperation, and history. After consultation with the expert jury, we declared an artistic-architectural design competition. Proposals can be submitted until Friday, February 14," Wojaczková stated.

The revitalization of the area beneath the castle is part of a joint Czech-Slovak project to Revitalize Cultural Monuments in Valašsko and Kysuce. It also includes the creation of the Husárik lookout tower in the partner city of Čadca.
