In the architectural and artistic competition for the design "Implementation of a permanent exhibition on the history of Germans in the Czech lands," announced by the scientific and educational cultural society Collegium Bohemicum, the architectural office PROJEKTIL ARCHITEKTI won.

The chairman of the jury Ing. arch Tomáš Hradečný summarized the competition: “The tabooization of the topic stemming from the long-term problematic interpretation of our own history filled me with concerns before the competition began, whether the architects would stand up to the challenge. They did. Among several excellent works, the jury chose the design from the studio Projektil, which convinced them of its ability to create a team with Collegium Bohemicum in the mutual dialogue of the second round and to successfully complete the project.” The competition was held in accordance with the competition rules of the Czech Chamber of Architects, and a total of 30 entrants participated, with team members from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Denmark, and Germany. Four designs made it to the finals. In addition to the winner and two other finalist placements, the jury also awarded another four designs.

The jury of the competition described the winning artistic concept as a project at the current international level, which allows for a synergy of cognitive and emotional effects on the visitor. It leaves an open space for the presentation of museum exhibits, which are considered by the creators of the exhibition concept to be the focal point. The director of Collegium Bohemicum, Mgr. Blanka Mouralová, also praised the winner's openness and willingness to engage in dialogue: “In preparing the exhibition on the history of German-speaking inhabitants of the Czech lands, we have emphasized dialogue from the very beginning – whether within our working group, scientific council, or collaboration with dozens of experts in our country and abroad. We are truly glad that in the studio Projektil we find another partner for mutual conversations, which, in our opinion, is the best way to achieve our goal.”

All proposals from the architectural competition can be viewed by the public at an exhibition that will be inaugurated as part of the festive opening of the Museum building in Ústí nad Labem on June 29, 2011, and will last until autumn of this year.
