Beroun - The Beroun City Hall wants to redesign Wagner Square in the city center. Among other things, unsightly remnants of the past should disappear, and the traffic situation should also be addressed differently. This was stated today by Deputy Mayor Josef Urbánek (Independent Beroun Citizens). The Department of Transportation has been tasked with solving how cars will travel across the square in the future. According to Mayor Šárka Endrlová (Independent Beroun Citizens), a roundabout could be constructed on the square, along with two separate lanes in both directions. "It will still be processed - whether it is feasible or not. There are many relocations of both electricity and sewage," Urbánek pointed out. As soon as the traffic solution is proposed, the city hall will announce an architectural competition to shape the entire area of Wagner Square and the space in front of Česká pojišťovna and the entrance to Talichova Street. Experts should determine, among other things, the ratio of green space to asphalt in the square and so on, according to Urbánek. Endrlová noted that the poor pavement should disappear from this location, and monolithic flower pots should also be removed. The new traffic solution for Wagner Square was committed to by councilors from Independent Beroun Citizens, the Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD), and TOP 09 in their program statement after last year's municipal elections. In addition, the city is preparing to relocate the bus station, plans to create pedestrian zones in the center, and improve traffic connections for the area of the former textile factory Tiba and the Litava housing estate. Other goals include the reconstruction of the Plzeňka Cultural House, the completion of the Beroun ceramic museum, and the renovation of the city library.
