Yesterday, November 6, 2008, the laureate of the ARCH Award 2008 was announced at the designfactory premises in Bratislava.
The ARCH Award is a prestigious award for architecture granted by the influential professional magazine ARCH on architecture and other culture, published by EUROSTAV Publishing, Ltd. The purpose of the award is to highlight remarkable works from the domestic architectural scene and thus contribute to its further cultivation. The ARCH Award has a high professional credit, which ensures the participation of top European architects in the jury. Unlike other architectural competitions, the ARCH Award cannot be applied for. The nominations for the ARCH Award are awarded annually by the editorial board of the magazine, made up of significant personalities from the Slovak and Central European architectural scene.

The decision on the ARCH Award 2008 was made by an international jury composed of: Matúš Dulla (Slovakia), Miloš Florijančič (Slovenia), Henrieta Moravčíková (editor-in-chief of the ARCH magazine), Petr Pelčák (Czech Republic), Jan Šépka (Czech Republic) on October 9 and 10, 2008. The jury evaluated eight architectural works nominated for this year's award by the editorial board of the magazine. They were: Extension of a residential building in Bratislava, Residential complex Agria in Nitra, Winery Karpatská perla in Šenkvice, Residential building Triangolo in Nitra, Municipal sports hall in Nitra, Family house in Černošice, Multifunctional building on Moskovská Street in Bratislava, and Family house in Marianka.

Architects: ksa. / Ján Studený, Martin Vojta, collaboration with Matúš Vallo

From the jury's assessment:
“When we consider the standard versus the extravagant, it still seems to me that when I ask what entry conditions the authors set at the beginning, what they were aiming for, whether assuming they would be sober or extravagant, I think that Černošice fulfilled its criteria the most.... in that reflection, I see from the start the clearest speech.” (Jan Šépka)

“The photographs could not capture the Černošice house... it is wonderfully residential... the residential quality that the house has was surprising and convincing to me.” (Petr Pelčák)

"The family house in Černošice is actually contextual... it has almost ideal mimicry. It does not draw attention to itself, it does not protrude, it is not ostentatious. Only when a person gets close to it does its ingenious solution reveal itself.” (Henrieta Moravčíková)
