Prague announced an architectural competition for an apartment building near the Ďolíček stadium

Prague – Prague Development Company (PDS) has announced a narrowed architectural competition for 5 participants for the design of an apartment building that the capital city plans to build on the site of the current parking lot at the Ďolíček football stadium in Vršovice. This was reported by the spokesperson of the magistrate, Vít Hofman, in a press release. The city also plans to renovate and expand the stadium and build a sports hall on the other side of Vršovická street.

PDS is a contributory organization of the capital city and is working on the project in cooperation with the Prague 10 municipal office. "We will primarily use the city apartments for single mothers, seniors, or perhaps teachers. The project will offer up to 140 rental apartments, with the ground floor featuring a lively ground floor with shops and services. The transformation of this area will also include adjustments to the surroundings of the Botič river and its banks to create a pleasant recreational zone for Prague residents," said Deputy Mayor Petr Hlaváček.

Interested parties can apply for the competition until June 28, after which the jury will select five teams to develop competition proposals. The results of the competition, which will cost Prague three million crowns, are planned to be published at the turn of October and November.

The construction of the city apartments will be the first part of the area development. According to city information, the renovation of the stadium will follow, for which the magistrate has commissioned an economic analysis. This will determine whether the city will, for example, expand the southern stand along Vršovická street with offices and commercial spaces, which would improve the economic return on investment.

The last phase of the changes will be the construction of an indoor sports hall opposite the stadium across Vršovická street at the Přípotoční Grammar School. According to the plan, it will be used by the grammar school, sports clubs, and the public and will include not only sports areas but also commercial spaces for rent and a garage for 300 cars. Parking will also be available for local residents.

According to previous information, PDS estimates the costs for the preparation and construction of the apartment building at around 620 million crowns, while the sports hall is estimated to cost more than 350 million CZK. For the stadium, the costs for the renovation of the western, northern, and eastern stands are estimated at 340 million crowns. The planned addition of the building with the southern stand and commercial areas is then estimated by PDS to cost either 225 or 450 million crowns, depending on the scope.
