Prague 3 selected the author of the study for the modifications of Slezská Street

Prague – Prague 3 will commission a study of Slezská Street, which is located between Korunní and Vinohradská. The councilors selected the architect on Wednesday who will create it. He is David Mareš from the studio called třiarchitekti. Lucie Bukovanská, the spokesperson for the city hall, informed ČTK about this today. According to the city hall's statement, the aim of the modifications is, for example, to limit traffic on the street or to add greenery.

The current state of the street is deemed unsatisfactory by representatives of Prague 3. "Slezská is significantly burdened by car traffic today. There is a lack of greenery, we have unclear and barriered crossings, and at the same time, there is a primary school and kindergartens on this street,” said Ondřej Rut (Green Party), Deputy Mayor for Transport in Prague 3 earlier.

According to information from ČTK, the selection committee chose from three architect offers. "The proposal for specific steps to achieve the desired quality of the street is clearly the most developed and convincing of all participants in the selection process,” states the evaluation of the winning offer. The committee members praised the proposal for specific steps to calm traffic and place greenery. "The mention of minimizing traffic light signaling and especially a specific schedule for participation is also positively assessed,” the evaluation further states.

The study is to address not only Slezská but also the connecting streets Boleslavská and Perunova. According to the competition assignment, the document should propose the widening of sidewalks and planting trees, while maintaining the current one lane for traffic and two parking lanes. It should also examine the limitation of speed to 30 kilometers per hour and the placement of new benches and other street furniture.
