Hradec Králové - The Královéhradecká Town Hall will announce a competition for a construction company that will build a new tourist information center on Eliščina embankment next to the East Bohemia Museum for approximately 42 million crowns excluding VAT. The center will be built on the site of the recently closed branch of the city library. This was stated today by the deputy mayor Jindřich Vedlich after a meeting of the council. “Construction should start in January 2015 and be completed in July of the same year,” said Vedlich. The city aims to obtain funds from European sources. The space is expected to house a modern information and reservation center, allowing access to reservations and information even outside working hours thanks to multimedia panels. The areas should also serve for exhibitions and various presentation events. Currently, information centers operate in Hradec Králové at the train station, on Gočárová Street, and in rented spaces on the historic Great Square. The center on the Great Square is expected to be replaced by a new center in the White Tower, which is currently undergoing extensive reconstruction. The city has not yet decided on the future operation of the other information centers, and it is not excluded that some may be closed.
