Based on further evaluation of the nominated works, the jury decided to award the Dušan Jurkovič Award 2016 to the architectural work:

Kindergarten Guliver, Banská Štiavnica

architectural solution author: Richard Murgaš

From the jury's evaluation:
The new kindergarten on the site of an older building represents an above-standard architectural performance: from design to implementation, from material solution to the interior furnishing for children's stay. The architecture radiates comfort and reflects excellent cooperation between investor and architect. The building has an interestingly structured mass, offering optimal contact with the varied terrain.
A distinctive theme is the kindergarten's interior, well-chosen color schemes, simplicity, readability, and a remarkable result stemming from local resources in the Central Slovakia region.
It is important to emphasize that this project utilizes the existing construction substance of a two-story villa, in which the architect saw further possibilities for developing the structure for its new function. The approach of "let's try to utilize and enhance what we have" was already known to our ancestors, and from a sustainability perspective, it remains relevant today.
