Fifty-one projects were submitted for the architectural competition for the design of the future sports hall center in České Budějovice. It is to be constructed on the site of the existing Sports Hall in the Dlouhá louka area. The city announced the competition on September 27, 2012, with the intention of building a modern center with parameters for hosting elite, performance, and recreational sports, as well as organizing social events with high audience attendance. “The number of projects vying for the shape of the new facility pleasantly surprised me. The evaluation committee met on November 21 and 22, 2012, and sent a maximum of six proposals to the second round. From those, projects were selected that were refined to the level of architectural solutions for the building that would create the prerequisites for the assignment of project documentation,” summarizes Mayor Juraj Thoma. On Wednesday, February 20, the city council learned about the evaluation of the jury from the architectural competition for the upcoming Sports Hall Center, which will replace the existing Sports Hall. The results were made public by the city at a press conference on Thursday, February 21, and subsequently, an exhibition of all proposals participating in the competition was organized for the general public.
