Apartment building Vršovická designed by Kuba & Pilař architects

The winner of the narrow architectural competition announced for the Vršovická municipal apartment building is the architectural office Kuba & Pilař architects. On the municipal land in Prague 10, defined by Vršovická and Petrohradská streets in close proximity to the Bohemians football stadium, a multifunctional building with 139 rental apartments, retail spaces on the ground floor, and parking spaces for the building's residents, as well as potentially for residents of Prague 10, will be constructed according to their design. The proposal also includes a solution for the banks of the Botič with park landscaping and a bicycle path. After the formal deadlines have passed, PDS will initiate the so-called JŘBU (negotiated procedure without publication) with the winning architectural studio to begin work on the documentation for the building permit. The second place was taken by the Austrian studio heri+salli and the third by the Danish studio ADEPT in collaboration with the Czech ohboi. The expert jury led by architect Pavla Pannová appreciated the high quality of all five proposals presented in the second round of the architectural competition.

The announcement of the historically second architectural competition for a municipal apartment building is related to the efforts of the leadership of the capital city of Prague from 2019 to 2022 to contribute to solving the housing crisis by expanding the municipal housing stock, among other things, through professional preparation of municipal housing development. The architectural competition was announced by PDS in June 2022. A total of 47 studios from the Czech Republic and abroad applied. In August, based on the decision of a twelve-member expert jury, only five architectural studios advanced to the second round, each of which submitted their competition proposals by October 10. In November 2022, the jury decided on the winner and determined the subsequent ranking.
